Terms & Conditions
IIT Kanpur – Online Payment Gateway Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all users making online payments to Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) through the institute’s official payment gateway.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using the online payment gateway provided by IIT Kanpur, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not proceed with the payment.
2. Payment Details
- The payment gateway is provided for convenience to make online payments related to tuition fees, application fees, event participation, hostel/mess charges, and other IITK services/heads.
- IITK reserves the right to add, remove or modify any payment services without prior notice.
3. Transaction Charges
- The payment gateway may levy applicable transaction charges, convenience fees, bank charges, or service taxes as per the payment method (credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking, etc.).
- Such charges are non-refundable and will be borne by the user.
4. Payment Confirmation
- Upon successful payment, a confirmation receipt will be displayed and/or transaction details are emailed to the user.
- Please retain a copy of the receipt for your records. IITK is not responsible for any loss of receipt due to network or user error.
5. Refund & Cancellation Policy
- No automatic refund shall be provided once the payment is successfully processed.
- Any refund due to excess payment, duplicate payment, or other reasons will be processed only after verification and approval by IITK authorities.
- Refunds, if approved, will be made to the original payment source within a reasonable time frame.
- Convenience charges are non-refundable under any circumstances.
6. Failed Transactions
- If your transaction fails after deduction from your account, the amount will be refunded by the bank/payment processor within the standard settlement period.
- IITK is not liable for any delays in settlement/refund caused by the bank or payment gateway.
7. Data Security
- IIT Kanpur does not store any credit/debit card or banking details on its servers.
- Transactions are processed through secure third-party payment gateway providers that comply with industry-standard security protocols.
8. Limitation of Liability

IIT Kanpur shall not be held responsible for any direct or indirect losses, damages, or liabilities arising out of any reason, such as payment system failure, network errors, unauthorized use of login credentials, or bank/server downtime.
9. User Responsibilities
- Users must ensure accurate entry of payment information (amount, student ID/PF Number/Vendor ID/Meter Number, etc.).
- IITK is not liable for misapplied payments due to incorrect input from the user.
10. Dispute Resolution
- For any payment-related disputes, users must contact the Accounts Section. Similarly, any website-related technical issues will be handled by the Pingala team.
- Final authority for resolving disputes rests with the Finance Office, IIT Kanpur.
